Reliant Sports Cars Index

It was 1935 when Reliant produced their first prototype Reliant 3-wheeled van and have enjoyed many years of producing 3-wheelers, for which they will probably be most remembered for.

It was 25 years later in 1960 when Reliant got the opportunity to experiment and build their first sports car:

1960 - Sabra

Reliant built their first sports car for Autocars Ltd (Israel) for market in America.

1961 - Reliant Sabre 4 - (SE1)

Sabre 4, two-seater sports and coupe model, 1.7 litre engine (approx 208 built)

1984 - Reliant Scimitar SS1

Two-seater convertible designed by Michelotti . Ford 1300cc, 1400cc and 1600cc models available.

1986 - Reliant Scimitar SS1 1800ti

The SS1 gets a exciting Nissan 1.8 Turbo injection engine (approx 500 built)

1988 - Middlebridge Scimitar GTE/GTC

Reliant sold the rights to build the Reliant GTE and GTC to the Middlebridge Company (Only 77 built) and 1 GTC

1990 - Reliant Scimitar SST

The SS1 sports car was restyled by William Towns. 1400cc, 1600cc and 1800cc models were available.

1992 - Reliant Scimitar Sabre

The Scimitar Sabre was the last of Reliant Sports cars to be built.  Ford CVH 1400cc, Rover 'K' series 1400cc or Nissan  1800cc Ti  engines were fitted.
