Next job was to scrape off the oil and crud from the chassis front while the engine was still out. > | |||
Then give the chassis front a quick paint to tidy up and help preserve it. > | Next job was to remove the knackered gearbox. > | ||||
Next the engine was degreased > | then given a coat of black paint > | ||||
Fitted new thermostat, cleaned and checked clutch and fitted replacement gearbox. > | New timing belt fitted while engine was out > | Rocker cover is sanded down ready to paint > | |||
September 2011 > | Engine is back in and sporting a shiny red rocker cover and newly made stainless steel water pipes > | All put back together and engine running again and I now have gears!! > | |||
Now the car is back together with all its bit intact, my landlord agrees that I can now bring my SS1 to my new home so I can continue working on it, so my faithful GTE comes in useful > | October 2011 > | First job is to replace that blue door > | |||
The electric motor worked well on the blue door, so this was all stripped ready to put into the gold door > | Gold door frame wasn't too good > | ||||
The blue door frame was slightly better > | So i decided to strip and clean that one > | ||||
The frame was completely stripped and rust proofed > | new studs were fitted to the bottom of the quarterlight > | ||||
The frame parts were then given a coat of paint > | |||||
